Sherwin started his Martial Arts Journey at 7 years old with Tae Kwon Do. He then transitioned into boxing, kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu and MMA at 15. He was a former student of Anthony Marquez of EKF Martial Arts in Chicago IL from 2012 to 2015.
In 2015 he started training at the Aiki Training Hall focusing his martial arts journey on Muay Thai under Ajarn Rick Sollo. In the following years that ensued, Sherwin’s study of the Art of Eight Limbs has enabled him to compete around the Midwest on numerous tournaments and promotions such as the TBA, Midwest Kickboxing Championships, Mecca Muay Thai and Ignite the Fight. Sherwin has also participated as a coach, cornerman and shadow judge on many occasions as well, furthering his knowledge and understanding of authentic Muay Thai.
To continue his martial arts journey and education, Sherwin moved, lived, trained and fought in Thailand for close to one year out of the legendary Sangtiennoi Sor. Rungroj (The Deadly Kisser) gym. His commitment and dedication to the sport during the hard months of training in Thailand enabled Sherwin to compete at the Lumpinee Stadium numerous of times. This is a very rare and prestigious opportunity because not many foreigners get to fight in one of Thailand’s biggest stadiums.
Sherwin has notable fights against high level Thai fighters and experienced foreign Muay Thai fighters hailing from all over the world including China, Laos and France. On his second fight at Lumpinee Stadium, Sherwin marked an important victory against an experienced opponent with a spinning back elbow in the 4th round against Dam Sipsang Thungtong Gym from Laos.
In addition to training and competing, Sherwin is an active coach who teaches numerous classes and personal training sessions for those who are willing to learn the art of Muay Thai for self-defense or getting into shape. Sherwin also works with fighters who are seeking to further their fight knowledge or prepare for fights.
